Jill Radesca

President

Jill is a senior BBP at Stony Brook University’s School of Nursing. She is honored to serve as President on the 2024-2025 Board of Directors and is thrilled to collaborate with this group of leaders to further the success of SBSNA.

Jill initially joined the SBSNA Board of Directors to become more involved in the program. She was incredibly grateful for the opportunity and wanted to make the most of it. Through this experience, she has gained invaluable knowledge in leadership, teamwork, and time management. Jill loves how SBSNA provides the opportunity to implement meaningful changes that benefit our students.

Jill was inspired to pursue nursing because of her mother, who went back to school to become a nurse when Jill was just three years old. At the time, Jill didn’t fully understand what a nurse was, but she admired her mother’s passion and dedication. As she pursued nursing herself, she discovered that the profession aligned with her love for science, her calling to care for others, and her desire for a career that fosters continuous growth and learning.

In her spare time, Jill enjoys weight training and cooking healthy meals. She currently has 19 houseplants and two kittens, both of which she loves caring for. She also cherishes spending time with friends and family whenever she can.

One fun fact about Jill is that she used to sing opera.

After graduation, Jill plans to pursue a fellowship in critical care. She has completed an externship in the MICU at SSUH and participated in the Northwell Clinical Partnership, where she trained in LIJMC's CTICU. She is passionate about critical care because of the way it continuously challenges her knowledge and skills.

Her advice for incoming students: "TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!!!!! No grade is worth sacrificing your physical and mental health. Spend time with your friends and family, work out, eat well, and take care of yourself in whatever way works best for you."
