Katherine is a senior BBP at Stony Brook University’s School of Nursing. She is honored to be working on the 2023-2024 Board of Directors as President and is thrilled to collaborate with this group of leaders in furthering the success of SBSNA.

Her nursing journey began last fall when beginning the bbp program but she has admired nurses long before then. Witnessing the power of nursing first-hand while her grandparents were treated for various medical conditions is what initially sparked her interest in this profession. She is passionate about advocating for others and hopes to provide patients with a comforting environment during a vulnerable period.

Over the past year, Katherine had the privilege of becoming the Second Vice President of SBSNA for the 2022-2023 term and currently serves as a Regional Director for the Nursing Students’ Association of New York State. This summer, Katherine also had the opportunity of working as a nurse extern at Northwell’s South Shore University Hospital on the Mother/Baby unit. She continues to practice the skills she’s learned by working as a per diem nursing assistant. All of these experiences have allowed Katherine to grow in her clinical skills, critical thinking, and gain knowledge about working in an interdisciplinary team.

In her spare time, Katherine enjoys spending time with family, friends, and pets, going on hikes, and reading. Her nursing interests lie in pursuing a career in pediatrics or an intensive care setting, but she is still open to all specialities in this rewarding career. She hopes to absorb much once becoming a registered nurse and expects to further her education in the future. Katherine is grateful to be a part of SBSNA’s legacy and is looking forward to the year ahead!
